Why WiFi Fails…

There are countless ways in which WiFi breaks. Here are just a few:

  • Access Point disallows client connections so the client cannot associate.
  • Access Point experiences RF problems including excessive noise and interference.
  • Network Controller becomes unresponsive.
  • DHCP server is slow or not accessible.
  • Bandwidth capacity and quality problems.

…And Why Failures Go Undetected.

The problem is that existing solutions can only analyze what is reported by the network equipment. But that equipment isn’t designed to measure the actual user experience on the network.

As a result, more than half of these problems get missed. That means that the network operator may not be aware that their users are frustrated until they get an angry phone call or a deluge of support tickets.

And as you can probably guess, when this happens, revenue is lost, customer satisfaction is eroded, and IT is left trying desperately to maintain their SLAs.

A New Way to Monitor Wi-Fi

Komodo is designed around a new paradigm of user testing. Rather than depending on the limited reporting abilities of network equipment, Komodo uses a simple device (the Komodo Eye) to test the connection like a user would.

It then reports back to a cloud-based analytics engine (the Komodo Dashboard) that stores historical data, watches for trends and issues, and notifies IT immediately when problems arise. The Komodo Dashboard also provides historical data so you can see user experience over time. This makes troubleshooting issues faster and easier.
